Safety and Wellbeing is one of our core values and hugely important to us, and to you. Not only do we ensure we are safety compliant when it comes to testing and labelling, we are also proactively promote safety and wellbeing across our communications.
In all cases, please always follow the safety instructions whenever you use your candles:
When you light your candles, make sure that you have enough time to relax, and enjoy them. An important tip is to never extinguish your candle before the melted wax has reached the outer edge of the container. Otherwise, ‘tunnelling’ will happen, where the central part of the candle burns, deeper and deeper, but lots of wax is wasted, remaining around the edges. (Also happens when the wick is too small). This is a waste of wax, lost time indulging in your ‘me-time’, and a bit annoying. So always allow plenty of time, so you can avoid this – the wider the container, the bigger the wick should be, and the longer you’ll need.
Traditional Cotton ones and Ribbon wicks are relatively straight forward and easy to use. This is because they burn tall and bright, with a reliable flame. Candles burn when the wax melts and saturates the wick.
You’ll want to light and take care of your WoodWick candles differently – they have a soft, low-glow, are more sensitive to draughts, but the slow and long-lasting burn and crackle-sound is worth it.
